Labor Doula Mentoring
Mentorship is ideal for those just starting their practice, or for doulas with experience who are ready to take their business to the next level. Bring your questions, concerns, doubts, or fears. Let us “doula” you as you learn and grow!
Mentoring Requirements:
- Must have already completed a labor/birth doula training (any organization)
- Certification is not required
- Must be willing to be open and honest with your mentor and dedicated to doing the work to grow as a doula.
Scheduled Time with Your Mentor
- Monthly one-on-one meetings with Laura Speece, 1 hour via Zoom
- 30-minute Zoom meeting prior to each client visit for preparation
- 30-minute Zoom meeting following each visit to review and reflect

- Finding your niche
- Developing your “elevator speech”
- Setting prices and creating packages
- Incorporating your other services or areas of expertise
- Creating your own client forms
- Website & Social Media assistance

Birth Support & Education
- Birth terminology and lingo
- Assisting clients with complicated situations
- Cesarean & epidural births
- Support during the “magical hour”
- Assisting with initial breastfeeding
- Assisting clients with grief & loss
- Postpartum Mood Disorders
- Prioritized access to Laura for questions or advice during business hours (text, email, and phone)
- On-call support during your doula births
For Doulas in Training
- Build on what you learned in training. Fill in any gaps in training education.
- Professional Letter of Recommendation for certification or job applications, following at least one full month of mentoring
- Exam preparation, required reading, essays, questions about scope of practice
